After four years with the Autry as their web master, I have decided to ride off into the sunset. Today is my last official day. I have come to admire Mr. Autry and I'd like to post Gene's Cowboy Code here for the benefit of all who read this blog:

Gene Autry's Cowboy Code:

1. The Cowboy must never shoot first, hit a smaller man, or take unfair advantage.
2. He must never go back on his word, or a trust confided in him.
3. He must always tell the truth.
4. He must be gentle with children, the elderly, and animals.
5. He must not advocate or possess racially or religiously intolerant ideas.
6. He must help people in distress.
7. He must be a good worker.
8. He must keep himself clean in thought, speech, action, and personal habits.
9. He must respect women, parents, and his nation's laws.
10. The Cowboy is a patriot.

If you smirked a bit at the above sentiments, you may be suffering from a high level of Cynicismotis, please ask your doctor about a treatment. You'd have a very hard time convincing me that the world wouldn't be a better place if most people followed this code.

The icon I created for the Autry's Once Upon a Time in Italy . . . The Westerns of Sergio Leone became street banners, among other marketing materials for the exhibition. I am very proud to report that these banners were actually stolen off their pegs more than once—I don't think you can compliment a designer more! Now that the exhibition is over and the banners are down the Autry is selling them to the general public.

Here's a fun fact: That's not Eastwood. I dressed up our (very tall) graphic designer like The Man With No Name and "shot" him for reference. There were a lot of doubters regarding this visual direction in the beginning, I'm glad we fought for it.

BaileyCreative was contracted to design a brief web introduction on the benefits of the RescueStreamer ® device. The technology is simple, but so effective. The idea was to inform how it works quickly and allowing the visitor to compare to other rescue devices on the market. I like the demonstration so much that I'm buying one.

BaileyCreative launches Ed Rudolph Photography (dot com). Simple. Clean. And designed to grow with his studio. Click here.

If you're driving around L.A. and you see these red and yellow billboards advertising a popular BBQ competition—well, that model would be me. I designed the logo for this event, that, and my personal passion for good barbeque (Kansas City!) convinced the client that I might be a good poster boy for "stuffin'-your-face-family-fun!"

Fun fact: I actually grilled all of that food during the photoshoot and fed a crew of five! Ha! Let's see Tyrese pull that off!

Happy New Year!

BaileyCreative is proud to announce the launch of Thumbtack Press, a collection of the greatest prints you will ever see online - and perhaps the best quality prints anywhere. This business has been an amazing adventure to get off the ground and the primary reason why we haven't posted any news in the last 4 months!

Have a look around.

We've redesigned and relaunched the new website for Nathan Ota. Plenty to feast your eyes on so have a look, won't you?

Already in operation for over a year, Outpost for Contemporary Art has grown in both scope and reputation. This non-for-profit institution needed to update their website to accommodate their growing number of archived events and programs as well as highlight future endeavors. Outpost came back to BaileyCreative for this next exciting phase. The end result can be viewed here.

8.24.05

Autry National Center launches online! This site is designed to encompass all of the varied and important institutions of the Center, including the Museum of the American West, the Southwest Museum of the American Indian, and the Institute for the Study of the American West. You can find amazing things on this site and they're just getting started. I'm very lucky to be working there, the Autry National Center is a very well-aligned advocate for the community of Los Angeles, the American West, and the world at large.

7.26.05

Martha Collins Studio launches online. Martha receives the BaileyCreative "Wonderful Client" award. She's a super-talent as you can see, and a super lady to boot. I'm really bummed this job is finished.

BaileyCreative has just completed SILA's Illustration West 43 Competition website. It launches this week at si-la.org/43. It's an honor to do this site for the second year in a row, I also get a kick out of seeing such great illustrations. Special congratulations to Bob for adding the prestigious Patrick Nagel Award For Excellence to his already impressive list of accomplishments! Also, congrats to Mr. Franks, Mr. Ho, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Martinez and Mr. Swanson - you are great illustrators and great people!

Welcome to the third BaileyCreative.com. After years of cutting my teeth on HTML, JavaScript, Flash, and CSS, I have finally settled on this streamlined site design. It's much more navigation-friendly and (more importantly) easier to update.

I'm currently working on a new exhibition site for the Autry National Center based on the westerns of Italian director Sergio Leone (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, etc.). I also have some freelance projects on the front burner which I will share in more detail as they develop.
